Gauthali Taks
Gauthali Talks is a series of round-table discussion on various socio-cultural factors that shape the present day Nepali society.
The first season of Gauthali Talks focussed on Cinema, Media, Fashion, and Activism. The season completed in 2020, and had 10 episodes with eminent personalities.
Episode 1
We deconstruct The Nepali Cinema Heroine or अभिनेत्रीies both on and off the screen- with film makers, producers, actors, and technicians.
We’re in conversation with professionals from Nepali cinema, featuring, in ascending order of their first names:
Loonibha Tuladhar has a vast array of experiences as an actor in Nepali theater, TV and Cinema. She has also produced/ directed Documentaries.
Paramita RL Rana is a young social media activist with fresh perspectives on the contemporary Nepali Cinema Industry.
Priyanka Karki works in Nepali cinema as an Actor, and Producer. She has recently worked as a Writer, Producer and Director in a web Series.
Rakshya Singh Rana is one of the first female editors in Nepali cinema, she is a Director, and also the Chairperson of Director’s Guild.
Reeccha Sharma has been an Actor in Nepali cinema for over 10 years. She is also working as a Producer of feature length commercial films.
Renasha Bantawa Rai is a celebrated choreographer with over a decade of experience, and is recently a Director.
Sahara Sharma is an independent film writer, and director. She has worked as a producer, and director in two Nepali TV series.Avash Karmacharya, the host has experience as a film journalist, and film critic primarily in the Nepali print media. He is a poet, photographer, and artist. He works in the social sector.

Gauthali Talks Film Festivals
In this edition of Gauthali Talks, we talk to the young representatives of film festivals in Nepal. The young film festival professionals are also film makers, and film professionals. Rukshana is a Transgender Rights Activist vocal about SOGIESEC issues, Feminism, Language & Linguistics and Rights of Indigenous People. She primarily works in the sector of writing and creating resources on SOGIESEC in Nepali and Nepal Bhasa, and has published many dictionaries in this regard. She is actively involved in legislative changes for the queer population in Nepal.
Shristi is an artist based in Kathmandu. Her work explores ideas of memory and nostalgia. She is currently teaching and is associated with photo.circle. She received her BA in Studio Art from Mount Holyoke College, in 2015.
Bridhika leads Dalit Lives Matter Nepal, a social movement to create a just society where every Nepali can enjoy life without the fear of being persecuted in the name of caste. It is an initiative to counter and fight back all forms of caste-based discrimination and untouchability – a collective intervention to ensure every right of every single Nepali citizen as guaranteed in the Constitution of Nepal.#DalitLivesMatterNepal is a connection with people to build a collective force and amplify people’s power to eradicate any inequality, discrimination, and violence based on the caste system.
