GAUTHALI Entertainment Private Limited is a formally registered company that specializes in film making, film campaigning, and film education.
Gauthali’s first television film, ‘Chasing Rainbows’ (2013) directed by Sahara Sharma, produced by Abhimanyu Dixit- was the opening film of Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival 2013, and also a jury award winner in the same festival. The film was also awarded the Critics Choice award at Toronto Nepali Film Festival. Gauthali’s documentary in development, Beyond the Scale: Ms. Nepal Curvy (expected. 2024) directed by Abhimanyu Dixit, Produced by Sahara Sharma, was a part of Docedge project incubation lab in Kolkata, India (2020). Gauthali has also produced two seasons of television series, Gauthali Ka Katha Haru Season 1 (2017-18) is an anthology series of short films depicting contemporary culture, and Maya Bhanne Cheez Estai Ho Season 1 (2018-2019) is a coming of age drama. Gauthali’s web series- Nirnaya (2020)- advocates women’s right to safe abortions. In the National press, Gauthali’s contents have been critically acclaimed- as ‘trailblazer’, ‘scintillating’ and possessing ‘great stories’ .
Gauthali also regularly conducts talk shows, film festivals, and film campaigns. Gauthali talks (2020) an online talk program with film and creative professionals dedicated to exploring their creative choices and learning about the reasons behind them. Gauthali recently conducted it’s first cinema symposium Let’s SHE-NEMA(2021) focussing on feminist reading of Nepali Cinema. Gauthali has been collaborating with the Media Studies students from Kathmandu University, Nepal (since 2018) to produce video essays analyzing Nepali films through a feminist lens. Gauthali also works with first time filmmakers, and an all women crew under the campaign, women telling women stories on short fiction films on #metoo, and non-fiction shorts on women in data.
